Codes and conventions of a newspaper advertisement

  • The shape is an A4 landscape which is a versatile shape which can be scaled to fit many different sizes and can also be used as a billboard.
  • There is one main image
  • The image should be striking and sum up the program
  • The text on the advert should include: the title, slogan and scheduling
  • The advert should also include the TV company logo

Here are some examples of TV adverts. I have chosen adverts for documentaries appearing on Channel 4 as that is where we have planned our documentary to be aired.

Recording And Editing The Radio Trailer & Recording The Voice Over

Today we recorded our radio advert in the radio studio. Giving our model a script, they read aloud and we recorded in onto Adobe Audition.

After recording our radio advert, we uploaded the voice clips to Adobe Premiere. Editing the clips included cutting parts we did not need, altering the sound levels and also importing footage from our documentary such as the vox pops which we had to unlink the audio from so that there was only the audio part of the clip.

We went on to change the sound levels of the radio trailer to make the sound equal through out

Scripting The Voiceover

In order to write a script for our voice over, we used the Internet to research facts on blindness which we thought would be appropriate.

Voice over:

"In the UK over 360,000 people are registered blind or visually impaired"

The exact time in which the voice over will come is at 00:53

Editing

Jess, Ashleigh and I edited more cut aways into our documentary as our interview was long. The cut aways therefore break it up so that it ruins more smoothly. Moreover, to do this we had to unlink the audio from the cutaway and the screen shot bellow show this.

Moreover, we also added on screen graphics to our documentary so that the audience know who it is being interviewed.

After this, we added a disolve to the begining and the end of the on screen graphic so that it came onto the screen more smoothly and also followed code and conventions.
